Who are Goliath & Jay Shah-B ?
It all started when two audiovisual technicians working in Paris decided to go on a musical quest. By creating a multi-influenced Hip Hop based project, they knew that the Rap generation in the late 90’s became tinged with Electro, Trip Hop & Abstract.
Jay Shah-B, Born in St Lô Normandy in 1978 is a jack-of-all-trades musician that plays keys, guitars, drums. He came to music by the Bass, playing in different groups (Metal, Noisy, Grunge & Rock) before creating a Hardcore-Punk band called Dehanza with which he has been touring for the last ten years.
His interest for Hip Hop and Breakbeat musics started to grow as he produced a lot of tunes for French rappers like Rosinante IRS. He then produced and mixed some tracks for ?Collection 2003 & 2005? (Ra and Bo Records) and went on making Abstract music. Aside his music productions, Jay Shah-B directed some music videos and two short thriller movies that will be soon presented on some Festivals.
Goliath, born in 1967 in Paris’s suburbs has been collecting heavy metal vinyls until the famous ’86 hit Walk this way by Areosmith & RUN DMC definitively turned him to Rap music. Coming to Paris in 1981, he started doing Graffiti and Beatbox from 1983 as he was living the Hip Hop culture by rollerskating among the turmoil of the Trocadero where all Hip Hop heads used to hang out. Later on he created the BlueSoundJam concept and parties in 1996 and was a journalist for french Hip Hop magazine Radikal in 1999.
During homemade freestyle sessions he met mc LeCsen, from today’s 75018 Beatstreet (Warm distrib). He bought his first MPC and started making beats to form Dnot Props and finally create an autoproduced 6-tracks EP that never came out. But the productions continued to pile up.
